If you don’t use a VA why not? – the Value of a VA.

Do you find you don’t have enough hours in the day? Are you desperately struggling to keep on top of all the needs of your business? Perhaps you spend valuable time learning new skills and software in order to do each job yourself? You are not alone! I come across lots of others who find themselves in the same boat, and when I ask them why they don’t outsource to a VA I get a variety of answers:

  • Not enough money to afford the luxury of using a VA.
  • I don’t need to when I have the capability myself.
  • Training will take too much time, I’d be better off doing the job myself.
  • No-one can do the job as well or the way I can.
  • Not sure what a VA can do for me.
  • I’d need different VA’s for different business types/industries.

Well, let’s look at each of these reasons in turn.

  • I don’t have enough money to use a VA.

    Look at your hourly rate, what do you charge yourself or your product/service out at? If you charge yourself out at £50-£100 per hour, is it not more cost effective to hire a VA at between £20-£30ph to do your admin? You know it makes sense….. Even employing full-time staff is not as cost-effective as using an outsourced VA, when taking into account all the associated costs.

  • I don’t need to use a VA when I have the capability myself.

    Many entrepreneurs fall into the trap of trying to do everything themselves. Whilst it is highly commendable to be so capable, is it really the best use of your time? If you weren’t doing the mundane tasks think what you could be doing, promoting your business, growing your presence, engaging prospects and potential clients.

  • Training a VA will take too much time, I’d be better off doing the job myself.

    As with all things, if you don’t Invest time in setting up strong infrastructure and foundations early on it is a recipe for disaster. As your business grows you will need to take on more staff, and you will need to train these people up as and when required, however, if you have already trained a VA, they can perform training for new team members, which frees you up in the long term.

  • No-one can do the job as well or the way I can.

    If you have offered the appropriate training guidance and communicate consistently, any VA worth their salt will understand exactly how you like things to be done, and together you will grow into a formidable team, there will be no need to clone yourself because you will have someone who completely “gets” you and your business.

  • Not sure what a VA can do for me.

    Each VA is different, they all have different skill sets and their personalities and methods of working will vary. Make sure you research, Interview and even try a few before you find a solution that fits you.

  • I’d need different VA’s for different business types/industries.

    Some services offer access to a team of VA’s covering every need and task that a client may require. This type of service offers access to complete skill sets and can support any need and any industry due to the wide-reaching skill set made available covering all aspects of your office needs.

So, think about the benefits, consider what YOU’RE worth and ask yourself: What’s stopping me from growing my business? If the answer is time, then you need to seriously consider the VALUE of a VA to your business.
